Grill Tips

Here are some grilling tips to ensure a great BBQ.

1. Clean grill, gives better grill marks, and prevents your food from tasting like the last thing you cooked.

2. If you are using a gas grill, turn it down. HIGH is meant for searing off steaks, and for cleaning. If using charcoal, only put the charcoal on half the grill. It gives you a cool spot on the grill to slow cook, or just a 'safe' zone to move food that might be cooking to fast.

3. Disposable pans are your friend. Simmering franks on the grill in a pan of water, or simply for melting butter to spread on rolls. They save on clean up, and you don't have to worry about destroying your kitchen pots and pans.

4. Never pierce the casing!

Those three diagonal cuts so many of us put in our franks before grilling provide absolutely no taste improvement or enhancement. In fact, much of the natural juices and spices run out of these slices, diminishing the frank’s taste and plump appearance.

5. Don’t barbecue frozen franks.

Don’t barbecue frozen franks. They may look cooked on the outside, but they are rarely properly finished on the inside.
